世田谷区との交流があり、町の物産品を昨年の世田谷ふるさとまつりで販売されました。

長島町は、平成18年に二つの町が合併しました。
新たな町の基盤づくりとして取り組んでいる内容について、町長や職員の方々、町の方々から貴重なお話を伺うことができました。

長島町は、養殖ぶりの生産が日本一であり、温州みかんの発祥地でもあります。赤土バレイショと呼ばれるジャガイモの工場も見学させていただき、一次産業に力を入れる意気込みを存分に感じました。

世田谷にはない大自然や人の温かみを感じ、都会の若者との交流やお互いの魅力を発信しあうなど、今後の可能性についても意見交換させていただきました。
行かなければわからない魅力をたくさん発見することができました。今後のさらなる交流が楽しみです。

I visited Nagashima-cho, Kagoshima Prefecture.
The town has an exchange with Setagaya, and the town’s products were sold at last year’s Setagaya Furusato Matsuri.

Nagashima-cho was merged by two towns in 2006.
We heard valuable stories from the mayor, officials, and townspeople about what they are doing to build a foundation for the new town.

Nagashima Town is the largest producer of cultured yellowtail in Japan and the birthplace of Onshu mandarin oranges. We were also given a tour of a potato factory called “red clay baraisho” and fully felt the enthusiasm of the town to focus on primary industry.

I felt the great nature and the warmth of the people, which are not found in Setagaya, and exchanged opinions about future possibilities, such as exchanges with young people from the city and mutual promotion of each other’s charms.

We were able to discover many charms that we would not have known without going there. I look forward to further exchanges in the future.
