『森を織る。』の上映会に参加させていただきました。

森の植物から絹織物の服ができるまでを追うことで、生命の連鎖をたどったドキュメンタリー映画です。

一端の絹から着物1着を作るのに、約3千の蚕の命が必要であり、その手間がかかる日本の文化が廃れていっている事実をより多くの人に伝えるために作られました。
思いがまっすぐに伝わってきて、生かされているということを改めて見つめ直すことができました。
友人の平井真美子さんの音楽も素晴らしかったです。

I’ve encountered another wonderful film.
I had the opportunity to attend a screening of ‘MORI WO ORU.’

This documentary traces the chain of life by following the journey from forest plants to silk garments. It conveys the fact that creating a single kimono from a single strand of silk requires the lives of about 3,000 silkworms, and that this labor-intensive Japanese culture is fading away. I hope more people learn about this. The creators’ passion came through clearly, making me reflect anew on the value of life. My friend Mamiko Hirai’s music was also wonderful.
