なぜ世界最高水準かというと、海外に比べて自然災害が多様な日本において、どのような災害にも対応できるように開発されているため。

日本の最大の弱点は、災害大国であることだと思います。多額の投資を行い、何度も何度も実験を重ねて開発されたシェルターの中に、実際に入らせていただき、もしもの時に身を守るために費やしてこられた並々ならぬ努力を目の当たりにしました。

現在、沖縄ではシェルター整備計画も進められており、国・自治体・住民で意識を高めて準備する体制が必要不可欠な時代に入っています。

今回の学びを糧に、今後できることを考え、実行していきたいです。

I had the opportunity to visit Shelter Japan, the world’s leading disaster shelter manufacturing and testing center located in Hamamatsu.

Why world-class? Because developed to withstand any disaster Japan might face, given its diverse natural hazards compared to other countries.

I believe Japan’s greatest weakness is that it is a nation prone to disasters. We were allowed inside shelters developed through massive investment and repeated testing, witnessing firsthand the extraordinary effort dedicated to protecting lives in emergencies.

Currently, shelter development plans are also advancing in Okinawa. We have entered an era where it is essential for the national government, local authorities, and residents to raise awareness and establish a preparatory system.

I intend to use what I learned to consider and implement what I can do moving forward.
