世田谷区立塚戸小学校を舞台にしたドキュメンタリー映画「小学校～それは小さな社会～」(山崎エマ監督)が、今週からNetflixでも観られるようになりました。
映画制作には、特にドキュメンタリー映画の制作には、多くの苦労が伴うのだということや、作品がもたらす影響力の大きさや喜びを体感させていただくことができました。本映画について、私の視点からまとめました。

3月には、山崎監督自身の教育体験をもとにした本も出版されます。
映画がもたらしたムーブメントが、日本の教育の今と、今後のあり方について、改めて考えるきっかけをもたらすことができたら嬉しいです。
The documentary film “Making of a Japanese” (directed by Emma Yamazaki), set at Setagaya City Tsukado Elementary School,
is now available on Japanese Netflix starting this week.
Through this film production—especially documentary filmmaking—I experienced firsthand the immense challenges involved, as well as the profound impact and joy a work can bring. I’ve summarized my perspective on this film.

In March, a book based on director Yamazaki’s own educational experiences will also be published.
I would be delighted if the movement sparked by this film could provide an opportunity to reconsider the current state of education in Japan and its future direction.
