今年度、45歳以下の全国の議員が所属する『全国若手議員の会』で、国際交流部会の副部会長を務めています。
この部会は、今年度初めて立ち上がり、その第１回目の研修が東京で開催されました。

まずは、一般財団法人自治体国際化協会クレア(CLAIR)の方より、お話を伺いました。

今日の自治体運営では、地域経済の活性化や多文化共生、人材育成といったあらゆる課題において国際的な視野に立った戦略が必要不可欠になりつつあります。
そういった自治体の国際化を支援するクレアの事業について、JETプログラムや自治体間交流など、有益なお話をお聞きすることができました。

また会場となったJICAでは、海外協力隊発足60周年となり、これまで5万8千人以上の隊員が99ヶ国で活躍していることや、実際の隊員の方が、帰国して行われている活動など、臨場感あるお話を伺いました。

自治体としての国際化について、改めて考えたり意見交換したりすることができ、学び多き研修となりました。

This year, I serve as Vice Chair of the International Exchange Subcommittee for the Young Councilors Association of Japan, which comprises local assembly members nationwide under the age of 45.
This subcommittee was newly established this fiscal year, and its first training session was held in Tokyo.

First, we heard from representatives of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR).

In today’s local government operations, strategies grounded in an international perspective are becoming indispensable for tackling all manner of challenges, including revitalizing regional economies, promoting multicultural coexistence, and developing human resources.

We heard valuable insights about CLAIR’s initiatives supporting the internationalization of local governments, such as the JET Program and inter-municipal exchanges.

Additionally, at JICA, the venue for the session, we learned about the 60th anniversary of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers program. Over 58,000 volunteers have served in 99 countries, and we heard vivid accounts from actual volunteers about their activities after returning home.

This training provided a valuable opportunity to reconsider and exchange views on internationalization as local governments, making it a highly educational session.
